Just tested 600gb out of the 931gb total (ordered 1tb but close enough I guess) because my experiences on ebay have not been good. You live and you learn I guess. I can keep testing to make 100% complete sure I get my money’s worth but I’m satisfied so far, and it’s from a legit company this time so I’ll assume it’s legit. So far so good, all of my files are working as they should, not the fastest speed in the world, but then again I’ve transferred 600gb just as a test in 1 day so it’s more than enough I’ll need, at least for the next 2 or 3 years. Overall, it’s actually smaller than I imagined, fits right in the palm of my hand, is silent to the point where I don’t hear it if my earphones are in with no music playing, and the light is pretty small but noticeable if I really want to notice that it’s working.
I admit I picked this more for the appearance than anything else. But It’s a WD, so there are little worries of this failing. I was looking for an external drive to expand my Xbox One game storage and when I came across this I knew the search was over. The color and texture scheme is identical to the Xbox One so I now have a “Minnie me” for my console. It was truly plug & play. Once my Xbox detected it I was prompted to format for game & media storage and it took only a few moments to format and I was saving games within minutes. It is extremely compact, quieter than a whisper, has great transfer speed. I haven’t had any problems nor do I expect any.
It’s very yellow but that’s ok. WD offer excellent product and have never had an issue so far. Fast & reliable… I would and do recommend this and any other WD products.

I use Linux and I had no intention to use any backup software or other features of this drive. I just wanted the large storage capacity. I used GParted to delete the partition, create a new one and reformat to ext4 and I was on my way. Easy-peezy.
It works fast and has the memory capacity that I wanted was just not aware that it required it’s own power source and was so big. It works great though and will work just fine .

There were no issues with this hard drive so far. The file transfer rate does well compared to the seagate slim hard drive. Very useful when pc has too much data which can slow down performance. Recommended for backing up files which comes in handy.

Excellent back up or transfer drive, compact, fast and rugged. I have used this 1TB type for several years, always work great. The new colors are very handy to identify specific data storage. works in both USB2 and USB3 slots.
This is only my second external drive ever; the first was a cheap generic brand that annoyed me no end. I must say that this drive has been a dream! It’s exactly what I needed. It is very fast when transferring files, especially when plugged into a SS USB port. I was able to download hundreds of files in mere seconds!
When I bought this item it was working fine up until the start of April, I never moved it, touched it or the cable connecting it until it started to not work for some reason. After 2 hours of searching possible fixes I moved the cable and to my surprise it started working again. Deciding the cable may be faulty and this was the only device i had that took this cable i ordered a new one off of amazon. Using the new cable and pluging it back up it had the same problems the original did and i noticed the inside port that connects to the cable is wobbly and is having connective issues. Personally feel like this hard drive was sloppily worked on and was not properly refurbished, for just $10 more i could have gotten a new one that may have had less capacity but wouldn’t be having these problems. I do not recommend ordering one of these products, and no i will not return this item as i put some personal data on it and would prefer to not risk someone copying it.
Would not stay connected to PC USB in 3.0 and would only work as USB 2.0. I bought a new 3.0 cable for $10 and it disconnected less but still wouldn’t keep a usable connection when running 3.0. I finally decided it was not the cables and it was the connection on the HD itself. I was finally able to get it connected constandtly by wrapping rubber bands around it and holding the connector up by 10-15 degrees. Not wanting to break it open and solder the broken connection, I will use it like this since I don’t keep anything critical on it and only use it for temporary storage to burn to other mediums. TLDR: Save yourself the hassles and just buy a non-refurbished drive.

Great product, does seem like it may overheat at times (gets pretty hot), and the cord is kind of short (maybe a few inches 6-7?). Other than that it’s great! Good value and gets the job done for the price. Plus for what I’m using it for (an Xbox) the 1 terabyte is enough and is very, very useful for the cheap price. Also very lightweight and can fit nearly anywhere, but like I said, unless you pay money for a new cord, may restrict you a bit.

Product color was great. I tried to transfer my files from my MacBook Air and was told to download so many apps or programs to get this to run on my computer unfortunately was not able to ever do this. I was on a time crunch to return my old laptop so if you have the time and patience this Product might work great for you.
