  ★★★★☆ I have only had this for 3 days, so the jury is still out, but it's a disappointment so far. For a supposedly high-end audio product from a company with a good reputation the audio quality is poor. The bass is boomy and resonant and muffles the sound, particularly on voices. I have situated the unit as recommended in the manual (not surrounded and at least 3.5 inches from a rear wall). The 'equalizer' is not an equalizer at all, but merely bass and treble controls. I was expecting a parametric equalizer or at least something controlling slope and gain at different frequencies. Raising the treble by 4dB and reducing the bass by 6db helped improve the voice clarity but it still does not equal the clarity of the old Sony Dream Machine it is intended to replace. Those who listen to a lot of pop music and who like an exaggerated bass boom may be OK with this.The set-up and menu system is far from easy or intuitive. Having set up the My EQ 'equalizer', there was no way to exit the setting. I had to let it time out and hope that the settings took effect. Selecting "sleep" involves drilling down two levels in the menu and then adjusting the sleep time, pressing 'Menu" to confirm and then, again, waiting for the Menu to time out. This is a single button press on the Sony. Setting the alarm is somewhat easier as it can be done from the remote alarm button. There is no way to cancel the alarm if you wake before the set time other than to drill down through the menus. The lack of dedicated function switches will add to your nightmares if you use the Duetto in a bedroom. The display does not dim or brighten with changes in ambient light. Three manual brightness settings are available for "on" and "standby" modes.The sketchy 6-page manual which comes with the unit is not enough to guide you through anything but the simplest setup, but there is a comprehensive manual online which is better. The telescoping antenna is ugly on an otherwise nice design, and it cannot be removed to plug in an external antenna.I like the ability to stream world music and radio from the Internet or from my media collection. I am still deciding whether to keep this unit or send it back within the trial period. I will post an update when I'm more used to it.I have not used Bluetooth or DAB and Duetto will not receive HD radio (except where available on the Internet)Two weeks later....Having read Como's response (below), I can add a few notes. I did not realize that the My EQ settings have to be saved. There is no "Save" option in the menu and the manual is silent on the subject. However, pushing the 'Source' button to back out of the My EQ Profile settings prompts you to save the settings. Reducing the bass considerably makes voices sound much more natural without affecting music quality much. I agree with Como that audio quality is subjective. I ran a sweep test with the EQ set to "Flat" and the Duetto's response is actually quite flat (+/- 2dB) from 100Hz up to 14KHz or so. There were notches but my bedroom is hardly a laboratory so I am not claiming that this is a definitive test.Como says the unit is not intended to be a "Clock radio" (their term, not mine). If it's not intended to be used in the bedroom, why provide two alarms and Sleep settings? The headphone output is on the back of the unit instead of the front which makes it difficult to plug in phones at night without disturbing a sleeping partner.I am now happier with the audio quality so I am raising my rating to four stars from three. I still think the ergonomics of the menus, the headphone jack and the antenna are poor and my wife agrees. She thinks the whole thing is way too complicated and so I have to set the alarm and "Sleep" for her. The ability to stream radio stations from around the world is a huge plus, so we will probably keep the unit because of that.

  ★★☆☆☆ I had high hopes based on the other reviews. I wasn't expecting to be blown away by some sort of unbelievable sound but the reviews made it sound like I could expect something truly amazing regardless. Hopes dashed. This radio would be best suited for a rather small space, better yet an enclosed one where you don't really need to be blown away by a lot of sound. It really doesn't get that loud, is not made for a large space AT ALL and has a bit of a wonky user interface. Bass leaves a lot to be desired. Bluetooth range wasn't that great and I had to be really close to the unit. I was on the cusp of ordering their bluetooth turntable to connect to this radio but now I don't think that's a great idea (especially considering the cost of the turntable). I will say that once I connected the radio to my B&W Zeppelin speaker the sound improved significantly but that sort of defeats the purpose of this unit if I have to connect it to another speaker, plus I could just bluetooth connect my phone to the B&W speaker and not spend the money on this unit. The whole point was to be a "minimal" footprint for great sound. You absolutely need to download the companion app (which honestly could use some improvements). Otherwise prepare yourself for a lot of "spinning dials" on the unit itself to play internet music for ex. I can't even begin to think of how much work it would be to play something using a flash drive in the USB slot (I tried, followed the requirements on their site to do this and the drive disconnected several times within minutes of using it). Currently wrestling with do I return it or relegate it to perhaps my guest bathroom which is a tiny space because I really think it's the only space that might benefit from the low level of sound input this thing puts out. I had planned on building a whole system of these speakers (along with the turntable) throughout my house and this was the first "test out the sound" unit. That plan is now gone as I can't imagine a bunch of these low sound producing radios/speakers playing throughout my home. I hate being disappointed. Sadly, I am.

  ★★★★☆ First off let me say I really like this radio a lot, it has excellent sound quality and the unit is well made and it looks great sitting on my night table. Now for the flaws, the controls are recessed on the front of the unit which makes it a bit difficult to to adjust them. The biggest flaw however is the LCD screen, it has the lowest resolution of any LCD screen I've seen in the last 15 years, it looks like a screen on a old flip phone and It is extremely hard to read. At this price point it should have a screen resolution up to par with a modern smart phone. With that out of the way I'm still pleased with my purchase, I use it mostly to stream podcasts and music from my iPhone and to listen to MP3's stored on a flash drive. The COMO app works well and I use it to control the functions on the radio instead of using the front controls or the included remote control. One other thing, I can't seem to figure out how to get the clock to automatically set the correct time when daylight savings time / standard time starts.

  ★★★★★ The B06 Bluetooth adapter was about as easy to install as possible. Literally done in under 5 minutes, and I was up and running. I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to buy a blue tooth adapter for my stereo, not that I have it. Plug it in. 30 seconds to connect to the blue tooth, and I'm blasting my tunes from my I-phone and controlling it anywhere in my house, including my balcony. Great product! Be aware you will need RCA cables if you want to plug this directly into your audio outputs. It only comes with an RCA pin cable.

  ★★★☆☆ Not sure how to tell if this is really using Bluetooth 5 or not, but I don't think it is. I don't see a difference in power consumption between connecting to this with my iPhone 12 Pro Max and my older Logitech BT Audio Receiver which uses Bluetooth 3. My phone certainly supports BT 5, but after running the phone streaming to the device (no calls, no other activity use on the phone, just sitting on the desk with screen off transmitting a playlist at 100% volume to the BT receiver) I have the exact same battery life percentage left on my phone after an 8 hour stint of transmitting to this receiver as when transmitting to the BT 3 Logitech device.I also feel like there might be more pronounced audio compression artifacts in the music than is noticeable on my Logitech BT receiver. I have not tested this side by side with the Logitech device, but I started noticing what sounds like harsher high ends such as cymbals. I feel like the "essing" is more distorted rather than a crisp, clean cymbal crash for example with a slow fading roll-off. Instead the cymbal crash feels noisier and ends more abruptly. I get that BT is not what you should use when you are chasing audio fidelity, but I would think over time things like this should improve, not get worse. Perhaps it has nothing to do with the iterative changes in BT technology, but instead maybe cheaper components in this device vs. the Logitech. Either way this is very subjective and I have neither the means or motivation to do an in-depth comparison and if I did, it would still be a bit apples to oranges.Additionally, the RCA jacks on the device are recessed to the point of almost being flush with the back of the unit. This limits you from using a more common plastic shrouded RCA cable found these days as the cable cannot slide over the jacks completely. I had to dig out a set of RCA cables from the 1980's that had thin metal outside sleeves that could fit over the RCA jacks and slide in past the case housing. How the crap did this aspect make it out of testing? (Sorry, I presumed even cheap Chinese goods would undergo even 5 minutes of testing before they chugged out 50 million units.) Just try and find an older style RCA cable like that these days. That leaves you stuck with using the included 3.5 mm to RCA cable. If you have a fancy set of high-end RCA cables made anytime in the last 20 years, they will likely not connect to this. Take a look at the pictures of the back to see what I am talking about.Add to what other reviewers have stated about the hostile-takeover nature of the BT connection and this device starts to become annoying very quickly. If you plan on using this with an older audio component, you would be best served by plugging it into the switched power supply on the back of the component (if your device has one) or else putting it on a power strip or the like that has a on/off switch so you can power this down when not in use to prevent this from hijacking every other BT connection you have. Because it will drop every other connection and constantly reconnect to the Mii B06 whether you want it to or not.

  ★★★★☆ Can't connect it through Bluetooth. I have many similar Bluetooth receivers and was hoping this was going to replace all of these but connectivity doesn't work. Lights are intermittent (red and blue) but the device is not found through scanning. Wasted my money since the time for return is already closed.Update 1. In additional efforts to connect with this product, I found out that connection was a bit different than other Bluetooth devices. I had to find the available device rather than making the connection trough the regular scan and match. Tested the device and works well after connection. Updated my rank from 1 to 4 stars.

  ★★★★☆ Right out of the box is perfect. It feels solid though rubbery. The sound is excellent, really impressive. However, I had to return this for a replacement because it was disconnecting from Bluetooth way too often.I received the replacement. I was excited once again to have sounds on my computer. I also just bought a new monitor that doesn't have audio/sounds so I really am counting on this to work.Battery life isn't that good. I also made a mistake of letting the battery drain completely. Don't make the same mistake. It took many hours researching online for any possible solutions in fixing the power issue. It seems I wasn't the only one having this issue.I went on to Bose website, downloaded and installed Bose update app. That seemed the power issue. I was able to charge it again, this time I made sure it stayed connected.Unfortunately, the update didn't fix the constant disconnection from Bluetooth. After awhile it just got too much, disconnecting on its own. Sad to say that I decided to return this and asked for a refund.Maybe once Bose finds a way to fix these two major issues, I will give it another try.

  ★★★★☆ But there’s more…Great speaker, sound quality excellent, love the aqua color, connectivity quick/easy however things to know— 1) if the speaker gets to low or dead you cannot plug into wall/portable to recharge. It will flash once like it’s charging but then it stops. We tried multiple cords, adapters, outlets. After returning the second one, we figured out the charging issue was not a defect per se… you must plug into a PC to keep the “connection charge” going. Not ideal if you’re traveling. My son has this speaker also and he said if you don’t let it die completely or charge when it says low…no issues using wall charger. He was right! Frustrations over and so glad this little speaker rocks.2) We use ours at the beach. There is no port cover for the charging port or aux port. We’ve been unable to find an accessory to cover it. This means sand or debris can get inside easily because it’s near the bottom of speaker on the side. We are wrapping ours with a lightweight cloth bag or scarf, no issues. Or, you could put a bandaid or tape over it if you’re in a dusty/Sandy area.Awesome speaker just know these little hacks and the headaches we had will be prevented.

  ★★★★★ The fact that I am reviewing this positively, is saying something. I rarely spend time with positive reviews, but this is too good to NOT tell others about. I have previously owned the Anker speaker sold here on amazon for between $20 and $30 and the sound is actually not that bad and the battery life on that unit was impressive, but I accidently left that behind at a hotel and decided to get the Bose as my replacement.This thing is awesome! From, the deepest 30hz bass to the highest tweets and everything in-between, this Bose speaker, like every other Bose product I have owned in the past, produces the most RICH, CLEAN, high quality sounds of any sound producing devices out there, in my opinion. It's almost like a magic trick as most people that hear it can't believe the rich sound is coming from the little 5x5 speaker.The device is encased in a thick dense carbon/plastic type case that feels and sounds like hard wood, when you knock or thump on it, then the entire unit is wrapped in a thick ruggedized layer of silicon rubber coating to making it not only waterproof, but easier to grip and allows you to toss it around like and old tool in your toolbox without damaging or causing any blemishes that would normally occur over time with normal day-to-day use. and if it gets dirty, you7 can just wash it, since it is waterproof.The buttons have a nice soft rubberized textile click when pressed. I would, however, have liked them to be raised up a bit rather than flush for the occasional "no look" adjustments. The volume has 100 steps rather than the typical 10 which is nice for fine tuning the volume. Also, there is an integrated microphone that makes for a superior quality handsfree experience when connected to your phone via Bluetooth for phone calls.Power Supply is NOT included, like all major phone and speaker brands, they have gotten away from including the adapter. I have seen the reviews of people saying the unit wouldn't charge, but I want to assure you that the issue isn't with the Bose device, it is the charger, cord, or user error that is the issue. And to be fair, I still think Bose and other manufactures should include the charger and cord. (especially when it has a minimum power requirement in order to charge effectively.) If you ever have any issues with charging, you probably don't have a high enough watt/amp power block. You need a minimum of 1.8AMP - 2AMP and above is even better to get it to a full charge quickly.I see a lot of reviews of people complaining that it won't charge. It will charge, just needs enough juice to do so. Charging adapters are cheap enough, just go buy a 2 AMP+ chargers. (and don't cheap out on the charging cord, those cheap cords that came with your made-in-china product you ordered off Wish or Alibaba isn't going to cut it.)I do wish the charging adapter type was USB-C and not MicroUSB. Most of my devices now use the USB C type charger. This really isn't a bad thing so much as a convenience factor as it would be nice to have only one type of wire/tip for everything rather than have 100 different types of charging wires laying around.The battery life in testing is about 11 hours at medium-high volume. on a typical day I turn it on in the morning when I wake up and then continue to listen to it at my desk at low volume which takes me through a typical 10 hour work day without needing to be charged.It has voice prompts when you turn it on. but this feature can be disabled through the phone app. It also has multi-device sync giving the ability to sync with my laptop and phone at the same time, which is nice because my windows sounds and my music can live together in harmony.It is waterproof! I use this thing in the shower. nothing better than having rich quality music while showering.This is an EASY 5 out of 5 stars. I would highly recommend this to anyone and everyone for a wide diversity of applications! you will not regret the purchase.

  ★★★★★ OK so I have been using this product now for approximately 24 hours and I must say that I am highly impressed with the quality of the sound as well as how easy it was to use. I will be providing a this review so that you can make your own decision prior to purchase.So immediately from the start I did notice that the speakers were very heavy indicating high quality product and high quality magnates were used in this speaker. So the speaker itself weighs approximately 2 pounds and seems to be very durable .I did charge the speaker for approximately 2 1/2 hours until it reached full. You can tell the percentage level by pressing the power button onceI then downloaded the bose connect app and installed it as normal. I did notice it came up with two blue tooth connections one I believe is for the app and one is if you don't use the app and just decide to hook it directly to bluetooith. Once the app was paired I was able to play music through it. While the plain non equalized sound is good I feel it could be better. Which is why I used the equalizer built into my phone to adjust the sound. The Bass in this small speaker is a much better and much more defined than most bluetooith speakers currently on the market. I have had the privilege of using professional grade speakers as well as lower grade speakers and I will tell you that that this does measure up to professional grade sound. Keep in mind, the sound quality is only going to be as good as the music you put through the speaker. I had put high definition audio through this speaker and it was crystal clear. At lower volumes and high volumes. There was almost no distortion detectable however I did notice some at a very high volume when the brunt of the speaker was covered. Please note do not cover the brunt of the speaker as this is I believe classified as an open air speaker which is what defines its bass. So let's get on to the specifics now. The battery, it's not bad I had this playing at about 60% volume for approximately 7 1/2 hours straight and for the remainder half hour it was on the maximum volume and when I finally shut it off it still had 30% power remaining. That being said, I believe this should easily get between 10 and 12 HRS to a full charge. It does take approximately 4 hours to charge it from almost nothing . But if you have a three amp charger like I have it does appear to go a little quicker.One thing to keep in mind and it is recommended that you use the charging cord that comes with the unit is that if you use an extended cord it will take longer to charge. This is why bose recommends using their charge cord. I will say that im highly satisfied with this purchase. And feel very comfortable giving this a five star rating despite the 4 hour charge time. The speaker measures approximately 3 1/2 inch by 8 inches with a 1½ inch fabric a loop the depth of this speaker measures at about 2 inches. One thing that I should know right now is that this does not come with a Caribeaner clip. I will recommend that if you like the option of using the clip then you should definitely get a clip with a flat base so that it will fit correctly.So to sum up this review this is a no brainer and bose has continued to make their presence known for quality over quantity. Even in the harsh economic environment of the United States this $139 speaker packs a punch of easily a 200 dollar speaker.If you are looking for a great sounding long lasting bluetooith speaker look no further because this is it.As with all of my reviews I do recommend that you follow them because I will be updating them periodically sell as to keep you properly informed.

  ★★★★★ I use this speaker for sound via Bluetooth on my Chromebox. It doubles as my portable speaker when I go for a hike or two the beach, connected to my phone.Overall, it works very well and sounds great. Connection to the Chromebox can be a little fickle to establish sometimes, but is reliable once it's connected and sounds great. I think this is a perfect use for a speaker like this.If you're looking for a small speaker to use modestly in public to watch YouTube videos, for example, this is probably not the one you want. It has some fullness/bass to the sound and lacks a native EQ control, so it doesn't do quiet/discreet very well. It's also kinda chunky to carry around, but totally fine to toss into a backpack.It may not be the right choice as a shower speaker either if you live in an apartment. It can withstand the water/steam/humidity, but it gets boomy in the bathroom real fast. At low volumes, it's fine though.Battery life on it seems outstanding at lower volumes. I don't have any specific figures, but it gets pretty loud and I don't need to turn it up high at all.The little fabric loop on it works well and feels sturdy. It hangs with a carabiner just fine. It also stands up on it's long bottom side well, i.e. you don't need to prop it up on anything.Lastly, the silicone exterior with metal grille feels sufficiently rugged for indoor and outdoor use and toting in a bag. I don't see a need for it to be in a case, personally.Very pleased with this speaker and I would recommend it.

  ★★★★☆ The very first thing I noticed was the weight of this thing. It had some heft to it - and that is a good thing. It did indeed turn right on, and I did use the Android app to connect, so connection was easy peasy. I haven't had to use the app again since that initial pairing. I liked the overall look and feel of the speaker, though I am not much into aesthetics. It is certainly not unattractive. On to the sound review...I'm a fairly old guy so I have a strong bias toward Bose, meaning I've long respected the sound Bose gets from otherwise unconventional sizes and shapes. Haha. So I spent time moving the speaker around to various spots, in various rooms, in various spaces and such. Lord you can really tell the difference from place to place! That is textbook Bose. Find the sweet spot location - find the sound you want. So I was pleased to find this was the case here. Speaker placement can have a huge impact on the sound!Sometimes the speaker can sound thin, sometimes heavy. It all depends upon where it's placed. Some people might find this disconcerting. Trust me, that is the nature of sound. What I found was that outdoors this speaker sounds thin, losing much of the lows. Placed in a more constrained spot and the bass can overwhelm. All this is merely information - NOT A COMPLAINT! What I am saying is, that even for the low price, this a dynamic speaker. You gonna have fun playing with placement and location.Okay the bad. Not very loud. And it does not sound good at max volume. Gets messy, tinny, meh. Oh well, it's not a huge speaker, and it is at the bottom range of price for Bose. Maybe I should be thankful Bose is offering cheaper options. It's loud enough I suppose. But overall the middle sound range lacks clarity - at any volume. The highs are a bit tinny - at any volume. This is not an audiophile's dream, it will not replace your high def sound system. It is indeed a portable speaker. (I make a general comment below about the general state of modern streaming, wireless, etc., that coincides with this.)As for functionality, it's pretty bare bones on the actual device. I found the pressing of the "buttons" to be a bit stiff, but I can handle it. Obviously the majority of control is going to come from the broadcasting device. The volume of the speaker matches the volume of your phone (etc.) meaning it's using your personal device for volume control - not its own separate volume control. Obviously there are volume controls on the speaker though. This speaker is merely an extension of your personal device. It offers ZERO control or tweaking options outside of that. The app doesn't either.Bottom line. Provided this speaker continues to function, I am pleased. I’m sure it’s possible to find a better sounding speaker, even for the price, but I got tired of looking lol. I will try to update this review once I've had a chance to test the battery life, charge times, etc. I think the app has a battery meter? Hard to tell. These days you get next to no info on the devices you purchase. If it is a battery meter, then it appears to drain fairly quickly. But again - who knows. Virtual meters like that can't always be trusted.--------------------------------COMMENT ABOUT THE STATE OF TODAY'S MODERN LISTENING EXPERIENCEI made comments about this speaker's sound, but it's really hard to blame Bose. Sound quality is dependant upon many factors. Blu Tooth. My phone. Spotify lol. Buffering, bandwidth, compression. Sometimes the tunes on Spotify (etal) can be very poorly delivered. Whether it's the compression and quality of the source, or the speed of transport, I often get mixed results when streaming. No way has modern streaming come close to matching analog source, analog delivery. It is what it is. It's convenient, and that is the sacrifice. I accept it, begrudgingly at times, but I accept it. In some situations my 20 year old dual PC speakers, playing FLAC files, can sound better than this Bose streaming Spotify. They can certainly proved a much clearer sound, especially in the middle. Sound is, after all, an analog wave that vibrates your own inner drums. But I do have hope that future advances will improve the whole streaming mess. And it is a mess bwahaha!
